Psycho Goreman sounds like the R rated version of The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy.

Is there something wrong with my brain, I'm starting to think the writing in The Room is better than most modern movies
So I know nothing about Psycho Goreman, so the last clip shown mad me laugh my ass off pretty hard. I am sold on the fact that I have to watch this movie.
I completely agree with Mike regarding Psycho Goreman as I am in the middle too. I was waiting for some kind of punishment or consequence for Mimi's actions, I get that would not be funny, but I hated the charachter so much by the end. They made her personality complete garbage, I was half expecting the movie to tell that she has some kind of mental problem. There are some jokes here and there that are good, but the actual awesomely executed parts were the practical effects(favourite was when PG eats bodies).
So they watched Black Widow, The War with Grandpa and Billy & Mandy: The Movie? Interesting, I do wonder why they always put different titles in the video title...

Promising young woman was not a good movie. Decent ending, but the writing was subpar and I just could not root for the main character.

I see why they don't review comedies often. When you picking apart jokes, the end point is simply "I didn't find that funny" vs "I find that funny." And that's hardly something that someone can relate to unless you know you share similar senses of humor.
Was "Synchronic" partly based on that Louis C.K. bit about how it's not safe for black people to travel back in time?

The thing i like the most about Psycho Goreman is it’s an obvious homage to Gwar, in its tone, designs, and everything. It’s the closest we’ll get to a Gwar movie.

I think Mike is a bit more critical towards Psycho Goreman because it seems like something he would have made himself. He knows exactly what he would have changed to make it perfect for his exact tastes.

I feel like Jay got promising young woman and Mike did not and they should have brought a woman on the show to talk about it
Yup - Mike was like 50/50 on whether or not all that stuff was intentional, and Jay was like "yes, very clearly, obviously intentional" - there were so many terrific intentional choices, right down the casting. They cast so many against type - all those "sweet nice boy" actors as creeps. Connie Britton, who normally plays strong supportive woman, cast as a sell out. Then the one truly redeemable male character is played usually villainous Clancy Brown. And the once-terrible but since redeemed character is played by freaking Doc Oc. And when it seemed to be heading into romcom territory, with each scene being more and more upbeat, one quick look at the watch told you all you needed to know - there was a lot of movie left. It intentionally telegraphed its final act. This movie is exceptionally well crafted is what I'm saying.
Just seen Psycho Goreman! To me the little girl carried it all the way! I agree with Jay. However it was way too long, and I'm with Mike on some of the jokes that didn't land with me. Costumes were awesome!
I thought the alien screaming “Oh my god!” was just a possible homage to Rich/RLM. Didn’t realize it actually was Rich. I agree with Mike 100% about PG though.

Just saw Synchronic; whilst it’s not quite the ‘lightning in the bottle’ that was The Endless, it was still entertaining and made me eager for the next Benson and Moorhead effort.

Promising Young Women act 3 is really tough to watch on acid. Amazing movie.
It’s tough to watch off acid, tbf, but wow.
We dont care about the technology of sci fi - but we do care about the logic of its use. So flux capacitor, no one cares how it works, we do care how time travel logic is handled in use. Sci fi character development? NO. That is where all sci fi is going - I care not for character development. Look at The Expanse - they went full characters now. Terrible show. No sci fi at all, basically a soap opera, like Star Wars (no sci fi). I dont like the left guys take on this.

the sister, and frankly the family, really bring down the movie. aside from just how obnoxious the sister is the family in general is ripe with woke subversions. goreman and the other costumed characters were so great though id recommend watching the movie on that alone just set your expectations accordingly.
just finished watching psycho goreman. . . the mum and dad are such fantastic characters. the dash of power rangers theme music during the start and the obviously power rangers villians themed costumes were absolutely fantastic.
