The more a person lies, the more practiced they get at it, the more they start believing that we believe everything they're saying until it gets to the point they think everybody else is stupid because they're so gullible. Then they start getting sloppy in their story telling thinking they don't have to try so hard and become easier to spot. Truth be known they often can't tell the same story (depending on the amount of detail) twice without making some sort of mistake. And that's when there's only one other person involved. When they want you to believe this but someone else that, they paint themselves into a corner.
